Factors to Consider When Remodeling your Kitchen

Demolition

One of the first decisions to consider when remodeling your kitchen is whether you’ll be tearing down or moving any kitchen walls. The older your home is, the more likely that knocking down or moving any kitchen walls will make sense. As we’ve moved into the 21st century, homes have become more “open concept.” If you do a quick Google search, you’ll be able to get some ideas about whether an open concept kitchen is what you’re looking for.

Cabinets and Drawers

Storage for your remodeled kitchen will be of the utmost importance. Having a place for your plates, cups, cookware, silverware, and dozens of other kitchenware is something to consider. No surprise that cabinets and drawers are typically made of wood or some form of composite wood. It can be overwhelming how many different types of wood cabinets there are available. Just to name a couple different cabinet types, there is red oak, cherry, maple, hickory, laminate, and Thermofoil among others. After deciding what material and cabinet color, determine where you’d like to have knobs and pulls placed between your cabinets and drawers. These come in a variety of metal finishes such as stainless steel, nickel, bronze, and black matte among other options.

Countertops

Countertops are one of the most exciting factors to think about when it comes to your new kitchen. The most common countertop options are granite, quartz, and marble. There are hundreds of brilliant stone options to choose from when it comes to granite or quartz. Countertops are priced by square foot, so after having a Renovet Team Member measure your countertops, they will be able to give you a rough estimate of your countertop cost.
